Company History

Imaginative Leap Films emerged in 2003 from the collaboration between Cornish-raised PAT KELMAN and London Actor-Producer JONTY REASON, where they formed the company BEDSIDE MANNER.

Together they created the Award winning shorts THE TAXI and WONDER WORKING MAGICIAN for the Digital Guerrilla 48 Hour FIlm Challenge in 2003 and 2004.

Pat Kelman was inspired to experiment with improvised film making by his work with Scott Williams' IMPULSE COMPANY in London where he had studied the Meisner Technique.

The 48 Hour Challenges were a great opportunity to put these principles into practice, having only 48 hours to produce a short based on just a random title and genre.

Based on the success of the shorts, Pat Kelman founded Imaginative Leap Films to co-produce ENCOUNTERS with Jonty Reason's PITTOT FILMS.

To date ENCOUNTERS has won:
Best Feature FIlm, Cheap Shot LA International FIlm Festival
Best Feature Film, ReelHeART International FIlm Festival, Toronto
Delabole Slate Audience Award for Film of the Festival, Cornwall

Pat Kelman is based in Redruth, Cornwall, and still works extensively in London.
